Michael Liebreich is Founder and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, the world’s leading provider of research on clean energy, energy technology and advanced transportation. Michael founded New Energy Finance in 2004 and acted as Chairman and Chief Executive before selling it to Bloomberg LP in 2009. Bloomberg New Energy Finance is headquartered in London and now has over 200 staff in 13 offices around the world. Since August 2012 Michael has served as a Board Member of Transport for London. He is a member of the high-level Advisory Group for the UN Secretary General’s Sustainable Energy for All initiative and is Founder and Chairman of Finance for Resilience (FiRe), EcoVillages and the Liebreich Foundation. He is a Visiting Professor at the Imperial College Energy Futures Lab. Michael is Chairman of technology startup Pearlshare and of St. Mark’s Hospital Foundation, a charity supporting research in colorectal medicine. He is a three-time finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, and in 2015 was presented with the Renewable Energy Association's Judges Award for lifetime achievement. Michael is a member of the Advisory Council of Business for Britain. Prior to founding New Energy Finance, Michael acted as Deputy Managing Director of Associated Press Television and Founding Director of Sports News Television, then as UK Managing Director of Groupe Arnault’s technology investment. He spent five years in the London office of McKinsey & Co. Michael graduated in Engineering from University of Cambridge with 1st class honours, winning the Ricardo Prize for Thermodynamics and Christ’s College Wyatt Prize. He has an MBA from Harvard, where he was a Harkness Fellow and Baker Scholar. He was a member of the British Olympic Ski Team in 1992.



Michael Liebreich, the closing keynote speaker at the conference, is Chairman of the Advisory Board and Founder of Bloomberg New Energy Finance. He is well-known internationally as a speaker on RE trends and topics.
Michael states that "The time is coming when we have to leave behind mechanisms that simply support renewable energy. Wind and solar are now so cheap they are going to soak up all of the demand during sunny days or windy weather whatever we do. If we overbuild, we will just crash the price during those times to zero. What is needed now is mechanisms for clean energy to meet demand at the other times: the nights, and the days without wind, but they must be efficient. Capacity markets are a blunt instrument which will suppress innovation. What we need is markets which pay a premium for firm power, power you can rely on whatever the weather. Then it will be game on: every technology and player can compete to provide it, and we’ll get real price signals.” He also hopes that 2017 will be “the year the world gets serious about risks to its increasingly digital and connected infrastructure – whether those risks stem from malicious attacks, technical failures, unpredicted weather impacts or spikes in demand. “I hope I’m wrong, but worry that the world is about to get a very unpleasant wake-up call – if not this year, then some time soon."

English-born Anton Milner is one of the pioneers in the solar industry. As one of the co-founders of the cell manufacturer Q CELLS SE, he helped the "Solarvalley Mitteldeutschland" industry cluster become the top German production location. He was a member of the board at Q CELLS until 2009. Since 2011, Anton Milner has been responsible for solar power plants at ib vogt GmbH and has successfully launched the company on the British solar energy market. He became Managing Director in 2012.

Gerard Reid has over two decades’ experience in equity research and fund management in the energy area. He is also a leading energy expert and lecturer, author and monthly columnist for BIZZ energy today, the German energy industry publication. Prior to founding Alexa Capital, he was Managing Director and Head of European Cleantech Research at the US investment bank Jefferies & Co. Before joining Jefferies, Gerard managed a renewable energy fund. He has broad relationships across the institutional and private investor communities as well as amongst government policy makers, utilities and technology providers to the energy area. Gerard has been teaching in the university in Berlin for the last decade. Gerard holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree as well as a Higher Diploma in Education from Trinity College Dublin.

Benedikt Ortmann PhD dedicated the last 12 years of his carreer to photovoltaic projects all over the world. Before joining the team at BayWa r.e. he built the international project business for SOLON SE, Berlin, from scratch and turned it into a successful and highly profitable business devision. His beginnings in the renewable business are back into 2003, when he became CFO at S.A.G. Solarstrom AG, Freiburg.

Josefin Berg is a senior analyst for the IHS solar research group, where she performs market analysis of trends and strategies in the downstream part of the PV market. Her focus areas include developer strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and the integration of PV in the power generation mix. She authors reports on PV markets and trends, and speaks regularly at industry events.
Prior to joining IHS, Josefin was an R&D strategy consultant in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies.
She holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering from Uppsala University, Sweden. She speaks English, French, Spanish and Swedish and is based in Barcelona.

Duncan Moser (1972) has been with HEINEKEN for over 19 years, working in various Supply Chain Management roles around the world. He initiated the Total Productive Management program in the Asia-Pacific region, creating the foundation for ongoing operational improvements and cost reduction.
Duncan subsequently worked as Brewery Manager, leading the Supply Chain operation (procurement, production and distribution) in Suriname. After a role as Production Manager at Den Bosch Brewery he moved on to Procurement. As Program Manager Supplier Collaboration he leads a program designed to optimize the end-to-end Supply Chain, particularly in the areas of costs and sustainability.
Duncan holds a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology and is currently pursuing an MBA at IE Business School in Madrid.

Robin schipper is al reeds 15 jaar in de spoorsector werkzaam. De eerste jaren in de mission critical ICT omgeving en later steeds meer energie gerelateerd. Vanaf 2012 gecertificeerd als EPA adviseur en aangesloten bij de FEDEC. Sinds 2016 actief in het team Milieu en Duurzaamheid als vakspecialist energiebesparing en energie opwekking. Hier zijn het in kaart brengen van de bestaande opwekking installaties, het ontwikkelen van nieuwe projecten en het uitwerken van de ProRail ambitie om in 2030 alle door ProRail gebruikte elektrische energie op eigen assets te kunnen opwekken de belangrijkste activiteiten.

Willem Enklaar begon zijn carrière in 2007 in de energie sector als Account Manager voor de Global Energy Group bij Fortis. In 2009 trad hij bij Triodos Investment Management in dienst, eerst als Investment Officer en vanaf 2012 als Fondsmanager voor Emerging Markets. In 2015 maakte Willem Enklaar de overstap naar het Energy & Climate Team als Senior Relationship Manager, waar hij zich vooral op zonneprojecten richtte. Sinds 2017 is hij teamleider Energy & Climate.

Esther Zumpolle (1973) Werkzaam in zon-pV sinds 1999, diverse commerciële en organisatorische functies gehad binnen de solar branche, o.a. bij energiebedrijven, installateurs, groothandels en consumenten collectieven. Inmiddels 2 jaar werkzaam als Ontwikkelaar bij Eneco en actief in opstart t/m exploitatie van zonnestroomsystemen voor de zakelijke markt in een lease-constructie.
